Stoneware - Midfire - Porcelain

Three years have past since the journey into Ceramics. Now having a kiln to fire to 1230C a new selection of clays and glazes began.

I created test tiles of every glaze had - from underglazes , 05 low fire glazes to Cone 6 and above including celadon glazes. All were fired on test tiles to Cone 6 / 1220C. This has given me a palette of over 120 glazes to use in artworks. The fine glaze that replicated the fine lines in the watercolour paintings, was found to maintain the glaze wall I initially sought to replace the toxic ‘Manganese Dioxide’ of traditional Ceurda Seca.

I next took inspiration from a recent trip to Japan where Ramen Bowls dominated. These bowls needed to follow the traditional measurements for volume and height while still maintaining the Ramen Bowl Aesthetics.
